New Restaurant, Lutterworth
The old police station and court house in Lutterworth are proposed to be turned into a pub/restaurant. The proposals included for various extensions to the existing set of buildings and remodelling in order to provide a place suitable for a public house.
As the site is surrounded by roads, the first-floor roof terrace was remodelled to provide an outdoor seating area.
Residential premises overlook the site from the north. The restaurant wanted to allow trading up to 2:30 am in certain times of the year.
NSL was appointed to review the proposals and propose mitigation measures in order to control noise break out due to extensive outdoor plant, noise from patrons converging at the first floor roof top seating area and supply deliveries.
An assessment was undertaken based on BS4142 for the plant and delivery noise and a bespoke methodology was prepared in order to assess the noise from patrons converging on the first floor seating area. The NPPF was fully utilized and values for LOAEL and SOAEL proposed in order to undertake the assessment.
The review showed that with the provision of mitigation measures, adverse effects to nearby residents will be minimised.
Noise Solutions also provided bespoke solutions in order to control the impact of plant noise to the outdoor seating area and also provided valuable advice in relation to plant location and orientation even before an M&E consultant was appointed.
