Under Croft Plantroom
Due to nearby noise sensitive premises, the plant was proposed to be located internally. The initial design solution was to adapt an existing under croft in order to create an acoustically treated plantroom. This solution meant that the HVAC and refrigeration plant had to fit into a very restricted area.
A further constraint was the fact that access to the landlord’s manholes had to be maintained throughout the slab width and new means of escape had to be designed. The internal columns also created numerous physical constraints.
We decided to install new intake and reverse bladed discharge louvres to ensure full airflow separation was achieved. The means of escape route needed to provide access for the traffic of client’s cage / stock and goods movements.
However the slope of the floor created an enormous challenge and internal steelwork was designed, manufactured and installed by NSL in order to provide the necessary levelling and supports.
