Environmental Impact Assessments

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process for evaluating the likely environmental impacts of a proposed development, taking into account inter-related socio-economic, cultural and human-health impacts, both beneficial and adverse.

In a review of around 100 Environmental Statements submitted in the UK in 2011 it was found that, in 92% of cases, the joint-top topics of discussion were Noise and Ecology.

The noise impact of proposed large-scale developments is often raised by objectors and the Local Authority during the planning process. The noise impact will affect the existing and future nearby residents and, therefore, should be considered to be of the highest importance.

Noise impact assessments compliant with the EIA directive have increased in complexity over the past few years. Noise Solutions Ltd is able to provide full acoustic support throughout the EIA process including the provision of noise surveys, assessments, design/mitigation advice and the preparation of ES chapters.
